Duct Sealing and Repair in Northern Utah
We seal leaky duct joints, reconnect and replace damaged runs, and insulate ducts so more heated and cooled air reaches your rooms.
Are leaky ducts making some rooms hard to heat and cool?
Leaky ducts lose heated and cooled air into attics, crawl spaces and walls before it reaches your rooms, and sealing the gaps sends that air back where you want it. Duct sealing closes the leaks at joints, seams and holes in your ductwork. Duct repair handles the bigger damage: sections that have come apart, runs that have been crushed and insulation that has fallen off or worn out. Both belong to our duct cleaning and sealing services. If your ducts are tight but full of dust, air duct cleaning is the better fit.
Warning signs your ducts are leaking
Bills climb while comfort drops
You pay more each season to heat and cool the house, yet some rooms never feel right. Air that leaks from a duct is air you paid for that never reaches you.
Far rooms get weak airflow
Hold your hand to a register in a room far from the furnace, then to one nearby. A big difference often means air is escaping somewhere between the two.
A dusty basement, attic or crawl space
Leaky return ducts pull air from the spaces they pass through. If the house always seems dusty and those spaces are dusty too, the ducts may be drawing it in.
Sweating ducts in summer
Cold supply ducts running through a hot attic or crawl space can collect water on the outside. That moisture can drip onto ceilings and insulation, and it usually means the ducts need insulation and the joints need sealing.
Common causes of duct leaks and damage
Old cloth tape that let go
Many older duct systems were sealed with cloth duct tape. It dries out and peels away over time, leaving the joints open.
Joints worked loose by temperature swings
Ducts warm up and cool down with every heating and cooling cycle, and attics and crawl spaces swing from freezing to hot over the year. That constant movement slowly loosens joints and connections.
Crushed or disconnected runs
Flexible ducts get stepped on or pinched during attic projects. A run can also slip off its fitting and blow air into the attic for years before anyone notices.
Missing or damaged insulation
Ducts in unheated spaces need a jacket of insulation to hold the air at the right temperature. When it is missing, torn or crushed, the air sheds heat in winter and picks it up in summer.
What to expect when we seal and repair your ducts
We begin with a visit during business hours. Our technician asks which rooms are uncomfortable, then inspects the ducts we can reach in the basement, attic, crawl space and garage. We check the joints, the seams, the connections at the furnace and the shape the insulation is in, and we compare airflow at the registers. Then we show you what we found and explain the options, with the price laid out before the work begins.
For sealing, we close leaks at joints, seams and small holes with duct mastic, a thick paste that dries into a flexible seal, or with foil tape made for ductwork. For repairs, we reconnect sections that have separated, replace crushed or damaged runs and fasten everything so it stays put. Duct repairs come with our warranty on parts and labor. When we finish, we check airflow at the registers again to confirm the change.
Duct insulation
We also insulate ducts that run through attics, crawl spaces and garages. Insulation keeps warm air warm and cool air cool on the trip to your rooms, and it helps stop the condensation that forms on cold ducts in summer. We replace insulation that is torn, wet or falling off, and we add it where there was none.
Sealed ducts pay off most when the equipment they serve gets yearly care too. Our VIP Maintenance Plan is $240 a year for one 2-hour visit a year covering an 88-point HVAC and plumbing inspection, a 1-inch filter replacement and a written report, plus 10% off repairs and priority scheduling.

Related services
Sealing and cleaning often go together, since leaks let in the dust that duct cleaning removes. Sealing a house tight raises the question of fresh air, which our ventilation systems answer. If rooms are still uneven afterward, our HVAC system repair team can check the equipment side.
